The design size is approximately 90 x 65 cm.

The history of this design dates back approximately 600 years.
This design can be seen on the lower interior side wall of the Ulugh Beg Madrasah (school), located in the historical center of Samarkand, Uzbekistan, and which, together with other buildings there, forms the magnificent architectural ensemble of Registan Square, the old center of the city.

The madrasa was founded between 1417 and 1421 by Ulugh Beg, the Timurid governor of Samarkand at the time, Timur's grandson, and a renowned astronomer, who later reigned as emperor from 1447 to 1449.

The Madrasah is decorated with Quranic verses, floral and geometric designs. This design features marble and black stone.

The designs are prepared in a unique traditional way, combining circles and structural lines to form geometric designs. The angles and balance of the components (parts) within each shape are calculated with geometric precision.

The designs prepared for assembly in the workshop are some of the original designs still in existence at the school.
